I started book with the anticipation of a man's drawn out "love that's been lost, but not forgotten" premise that pulls at the reader's heart. The story does go into detail about his feelings, but every chapter seemed to be a repeat of the last one. I'm not sure how frequently Spencer wrote these unmailed letters, to Raquel, but it's at least a good 10 years thereabouts since the separation. Each letter sounded the same as the last and made me see the person as more pathetic than empathized for. At some point, people do start living again. The guy sounded like a shot animal whose wound was still bleeding out and doing nothing to make his existence better. The two main characters - Spencer and Raquel sound like high schoolers in grown up bodies who constantly needed direction from friends to get off their laurels and quit sounding like a victim.I ended up skimming the book just to see what would happen at the end. If you like melodramatic characters, this book works. However, if the story were to be more compelling, the author should have consolidated the book into something shorter.

Love Letters I Wrote to Say I Miss You edition by Samuel McDonald Jr Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Great story!
it was so good. it made me believe that good people still exist and men are capable of loving one woman, no matter what.
I enjoyed this book, It was a well written. I like the way the author wrote of a man's feelings. The character, Spencer, told his story of his true love he let go, and how he can not find love again. The way the story is told by Spencer is heartfelt, he talks of his emotion, his desires, and what love means to him, and all it means is Raquel, the love he let go. Through this journey he never loses sight of his first love, he tries to find love with another...but it just does not happen. By the end of the story love conquers all, Spencer gets his girl.
i had talked to the author about this book so i had to get it to see what it was about. during the process of reading it i got with the author and discussed the book of what i read at that point. i really enjoyed it.
This book was redundant. Even though the sentiment was sweet it really got boring reading the same thing in the love letters even though it was worded different.
I really enjoyed reading this book. From the moment I started reading I was drawn into the book. At times I felt as if I were there watching the action as I turned the pages of the most wonderfully written novel I have read in quite sometime. One thing I liked most about the book was the correlations that writer drew to the daily lives of everyone that has been in love or desired to be in love. My favorite chapter in ther book was chapter 17. In this chapter the writer really express the ability for a man to communicate his feelings, desires, and interpretations of love. This is the type of reading that will have you on an emotional roller coaster asking yourself have you ever been where the characters are. Please read this book. The writer has the keen ability to express emotions through written work. I am now anxiously awaiting the next book.
Mr. McDonald,
You did an excellent job with this book. Your talent is very well developed and you should write every chance you get.
It was refreshing to read a romance written by a male author, and from the perspective of a male protagonist. I liked that Spencer is the typical macho-guy and puts on a brave front when he interacts with the people around him. However, there is the other side of him which is all emotional, has fears and doubts, that the readers get to know as well. There were great musings about life and love which could be written a bit more eloquently and the book needs proof-reading.
